In A Corner of Lough Neagh, Rowland Hill ARUA (1915–1979) employs his celebrated lyrical realism to capture the tranquil beauty of Ireland's largest lake. This masterful Irish landscape painting showcases Hill’s distinctive sensitivity to light and atmosphere, rendering the quiet shoreline with the structural precision and "timeless strength" that defined his career in the Royal Ulster Academy. As a quintessential piece of 20th-century vintage Irish art, it reflects the artist's deep connection to the Northern Irish countryside and his legacy as one of the most beloved painters of his generation.

Rowland Hill ARUA (1919-1979) was born in Belfast and later moved to Jordanstown. When Hill was just fourteen years old, he began to earn a living for himself. However, knowing that he wanted to be an artist, he attended Belfast Technical College and Belfast College of Art in the evenings. People first began to see Hill’s oil paintings in the Ulster Academy of Arts when he was just sixteen years old. Hill’s subject matter consisted predominantly of landscapes, usually in places such as Donegal. As well as exhibiting in Belfast, Hill’s work also travelled overseas for shows.
