Richard Faulkner (1917-1988) was a landscape painter born in Belfast and educated at the Belfast College of Art. Faulkner’s preferred medium was watercolor, although he did experiment with oil. Faulkner’s first exhibition was held in the Royal Hibernian Academy in 1937 and then in the Royal Ulster Academy of Arts in 1938. In order for Richard to paint the Antrim coast, he moved to Ballycastle in 1946.
